Interface

Flame retardancy statement
The fire retardant in Interface carpets is contained within the latex precoat which sits beneath the top cloth layer. This will not be affected by regular use or cleaning of the carpet tile provided that our standard installation and maintenance guidelines are followed.
Interface are not aware of any liquid or cleaning process that could harm the fire performance of our carpet tiles. To our knowledge, the fire retardant can only be compromised in the event it experiences temperatures in excess of 220C, the likelihood of which is only possible in the case of a fire, where an endothermic reaction results in the formation of an inert residue, and also water that supresses the fire and dilutes the smoke.
All Interface carpets manufactured since 1st January 2007 have carried the CE mark. Declared fire performance is an essential characteristic of the CE mark, and this must be maintained for the lifetime of the product.
All Interface Carpet Tile products manufactured for the UK and European markets achieve the standard required by EN13501 and therefore ensure fire performance suitability for commercial and housing environments.
Interface carpet tiles are installed and subsequently used for periods of 5 to 7 years on average but are warranted for at least 10 years (subject to terms of the relevant warranty issued by Miliken). Therefore, Interface anticipates that any carpet tiles manufactured prior to January 2007 would be out of circulation, and the likelihood of carpet tiles prior to this date still being installed to be extremely low.

Tarkett

Tarkett is adding a fire retardant in the latex precoat layer of their carpet products, which is just below the use surface layer of the carpet (carpet pile fibres).
The type of fire retardant used guarantees a permanent working, during the lifetime of the carpet product. This is conforming the requirements of the European regulation for building products (CPR).
Tarkett carpet tile products meet the European requirements regarding essential characteristics, as fire behavior is, which is expressed by the CE-mark. The fire classification is determined according to the European norm EN 13501-1, prescribed for flooring products.
Tarkett is not using halogenic fire retardants or any other hazardous substance.
Tarkett is also not using a topical treatment on the use surface layer, as this does not guarantee the permanent working of the fire retardant when performing a wet cleaning process on the carpet (e.g. spray-extraction).

Milliken

Flame retardancy statement
The fire retardant in Milliken carpets is contained within the latex precoat which sits beneath the top cloth layer. This will not be affected by regular use or cleaning of the carpet tile provided that our standard installation and maintenance guidelines are followed.

Ege

Flame retardancy statement
The following is a statement from Ege Carpets addressing the flammability/ fire safety of reusing their carpet tiles.
All fire retardant is in the precoat (the glue beneath the top cloth) and will not be affected by use or cleaning of the carpet tile. Ege Carpets is not ware after decades of operation, of any liquid, or cleaning process that could harm the fire performance of their carpet tiles.  Ege Carpets only knowledge of anything that can “destroy” fire performance, is exposure to a temperature in excess of 220oC, where the three water molecules in the ATH fire retardant are released in an endothermic reaction.
Since June 2007 all Ege Carpets have been CE marked. Declaring fire performance of products is mandatory in obtaining the CE mark, and the level of fire performance must be maintained for the lifetime of the product. Carpet tiles are first used after their initial installation, between 5 – 7 years average.  Therefore, Ege Carpets anticipates their legacy carpet tiles pre-June 2007 to be out of circulation, and the likelihood of encountering an Ege Carpet tile before this time to be exceptionally low.
All carpet tiles manufactured for the UK market meet standard EN 13501 to ensure fire performance suitability for commercial environments and thus applicable for housing too.

Modulyss

The following is a statement from modulyss addressing the flammability/ fire safety of reusing their carpet tiles.
All fire retardant is in the precoat (the glue beneath the top cloth) and will not be affected by use or cleaning of the carpet tile. modulyss is not aware after decades of operation, of any liquid, or cleaning process that could harm the fire performance of their carpet tiles.  Modulyss’ only knowledge of anything that can “destroy” fire performance, is exposure to a temperature in excess of 220°C, where the three water molecules in the ATH fire retardant are released in an endothermic reaction.

Declaring fire performance of products is mandatory in obtaining the CE mark, and the level of fire performance must be maintained for the lifetime of the product. Carpet tiles are first used after their initial installation, between 5 – 7 years average.  Therefore, modulyss anticipates their legacy carpet tiles pre-June 2007 to be out of circulation, and the likelihood of encountering a modulyss tile before this time to be exceptionally low.
